Cold Plunge Field Tool 01Formula + static reference table
Running-cost calculator

What does a cold plunge cost to run?

Change the ambient temperature, target, electricity price and setup. The result separates a modeled energy estimate from the assumptions behind it.

Estimated monthly electricity cost
$19/mo

About 120 kWh/month under the selected assumptions.

A monthly-mean calculator cannot reproduce weather variability. City pages use monthly low/high climate profiles and are better for annual comparisons.

The formula

ArcticSoak estimates daily energy as baseline circulation plus an explicit usage/exposure allowance plus conductive cooling load divided by chiller efficiency:

daily kWh = baseline + allowance + [UA × max(ambient − target, 0) × 24 ÷ 3,412 ÷ COP]

UA is effective thermal conductance in BTU/hour/°F. COP is the coefficient of performance. The scenarios are sensitivity tests, not manufacturer ratings or statistical confidence bounds.

Worked example: At 80°F ambient, 50°F water and $0.16/kWh, the reference inputs (UA 18, baseline 1.6 kWh/day, allowance 0.55 kWh/day and heat-adjusted COP) model about 120 kWh and $19 for a 30.4-day month.
